MASTER CLASS: ART

MASTER CLASS #24 BUILDING A BODY OF WORK, PART 2

Last updated on 19 Jun, 2023

FOLLOWING OUR ART (Suggested for Stage Five; Flow)

In this Master Class we continue to follow artist Terri Froelich as she prepares for her solo show. In part 2 of this interview, we’ll find out more about Terri’s process, along with the challenges and discoveries along the way….including a broken foot!

In this video you will learn:

• Falling in love too early cuts you short. So many people go 70% and stop.

• Making a bold move can take you much further down the road. If you’ve made a mess of things it forces you to resolve it and discover something new.

• Wrecking a painting makes it less valuable to you, so it’s easier to push and go further.

• It is helpful to have a personal objective for when a painting is done. Making that bar very high will guide you forward.

• When you feel a painting is done, live with it for a few days. Come back to it a few times to see if it still needs to go further.

• Painting in a series, like for a show, will teach you about your work. You’ll get clues, or a forecast of the kind of work you might want to make next. Pay attention and take note of these things.
