ANNE SIEMS (Suggested for Stage Six; Mastery)
Inspired by the imagery in German children’s books and the encouragement from her father, Anne Siems began making art at a very young age. Focusing on female figures and portraits, the thread through all of her work is her fascination and of life and the connectedness she feels to everything. She seeks in her work the point where we feel a certain ache—a knowingness that life is full of light and dark, sacred and profane, beauty and ugliness, life and death.
